Consulate requirements
- A notarised translation into Arabic bound to a notarised copy
- First the Russian Ministry of Justice, then the Consular Department of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs
- Documents are submitted in person by the holder or by a representative under a notarised power of attorney legalised at the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs; commercial documents are submitted by a company employee
Iraq is not a party to the Hague Convention on the apostille — consular legalisation remains the only way to have a document recognised for use in Iraq.
According to translation agencies the consular section continues to accept documents for legalisation in 2025–2026; before submitting it is advisable to check the current opening hours by telephone, as no separate official embassy website with this information was found.
