Chisinau Convention
The 2002 convention on legal assistance; from 2023 it replaces the 1993 Minsk Convention for Russia and part of the CIS.
The Chisinau Convention on Legal Assistance and Legal Relations in Civil, Family and Criminal Matters was signed on 7 October 2002. For Russia and several other parties it replaced the earlier Minsk Convention from 2023, including in relations with Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
For the applicant the practical effect is the same: documents are accepted without an apostille and without legalisation.
