Viet Nam is a party to the Hague Apostille Convention: accession 31 December 2025, in force for Viet Nam since 11 September 2026. No Russian objection is listed in the Hague Conference status table. According to Vietnamese missions, an apostille replaces consular legalisation from that date.
The 1998 legal assistance treaty is in force; under Article 15, documents drawn up or certified by a justice institution are accepted without legalisation. Check with the Vietnamese recipient which documents fall under it: in practice an apostille is requested.
