State fee
A payment under the Russian Tax Code: RUB 2,500 per document for an apostille and RUB 350 for legalisation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as at the date checked.
The state fee for an apostille is set by article 333.33(1)(48) of the Tax Code and does not depend on which authority affixes it: the civil registry, the Ministry of Justice, the police, an education authority or an archive.
The fee is paid before submission and is not refunded if the authority refuses, so it is worth checking that the document is fit for apostilling first.
